2. An estimated 1 in 6 children or 356 million globally lived in extreme poverty pre-pandemic, forced to survive on less than $1.90 a day
3. 100 million additional children have been plunged into poverty due to COVID-19
4. Children are more than twice as likely to live in poverty than adults (17.5 percent ofchildren vs. 7.9 percent of adults)
5. Children from the poorest households die at twice the rate of their better off peers
6. 4.4 million children in Indonesia and adolescents aged 7–18 years are still out of school

1. It has been shown statistically that children leaving school even with basic reading skills can can help alleviate global poverty by 12% (171 million people)
